daughters of elphyne, often shortened to doe, is a south korean girl group formed during the viral survival show elphyne the show. the group consists of nine members: hanbyeol, yoko, mei, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? and ?. the group debuted march 20, 2024 with their first mini album "lady of the lake". they are going to promote for two and a half years under 1wave entertainment.
⊹ episode 01 - 02 ⊹ introductions ⊹
During the introduction the show‘s concept is explained by Le Sserafim's Chaewon, followed by the show’s contestants being introduced according to their company. The contestants had to perform in front of the mentors for evaluation and are graded from A to F based on their overall talents, organizing them into temporary classes for training. After the contestants have been grouped into their grades, it is announced that they will perform Elphyne’s theme song “Dream On”. Their positioning on stage will be determined by their grades, with A having the top of the stage – and a chance to compete for the final center position –, while F trainees have to dance at the bottom. The contestants are given three days to practice the song, after which they will undergo a re-evaluation and have their grades reassigned.

The third episode starts with the contestants in their new groups, where the A class trainees compete for the center position of “Dream On”. After the live performance the first mission is introduced: The group battle where contestants are grouped into ten teams consisting of six members each. Two teams compete against each other in the following songs: Into The New World by SNSD, Dance The Night Away by Twice, Feel My Rhythm by Red Velvet, Shut Down by Blackpink and ON by BTS. The highest-ranking trainees during the interim check were allowed to pick their respective teams. Each of the five mission songs would then be performed live by the teams, with each individual being voted on separately by the live audience. The winning team members received a bonus of 10.000 votes and the team with the overall highest score got a special stage on M Countdown.

The first ranking announcement begins with Exo's Suho as the host. Trainees ranked 10th to 39th are announced first, before the Top 9 are revealed. Throughout the episode several clips of the girl’s dorm life are revealed, as well as a dance battle, where Watanabe Kiyoko is crowned the “Dancing Queen”. Lastly Ahn Sumin is revealed to be 40th and thus the ranking announcement ends. The episode ends with a preview of the next mission, called the “Dual Position Battle” which will begin in the following episode.
⊹ episode 06 - 07 ⊹ dual position battle ⊹
Jeon Somi explains the Dual Position Battle – already known from Boys Planet – to the contestants. The trainees are tasked to perform one of nine songs divided into the three categories “Vocal & Dance”, “Vocal & Rap” and “Rap & Dance”. The contestants choose according to their ranking, once a team hits its maximum number of members, higher-ranked trainees are allowed to kick out lower-ranking trainees from the group to free up a spot for themselves. The pushed-out trainee then had to choose one of the spots still available. Contestants had to include a creative element in their performances, might it be changing parts of the choreography or writing new lyrics themselves. The winning team for each category would receive a point benefit of 20.000 points – with the highest ranking trainee in that team gaining another 50.000 points benefit – and a special stage on M Countdown. After the sixth episode the five songs created for the “Artist Battle” are revealed and viewers get to choose each team’s members through the Mnet Plus App.

The second elimination starts with Jeon Somi explaining the third mission to the contestants, after which all the trainees are shown practicing for the song they got voted into by the audience – yet only the ones surviving this next elimination would be able to perform them. Then the Survival Announcement begins. Trainees ranked 10th to 29th are announced first, before the Top 9 are revealed. Lastly ??? manages to remain in the competition by placing 30th.
⊹ episode 09 - 10 ⊹ artist battle ⊹
After the second elimination the remaining contestants have to readjust their teams for the “Artist Battle” to fit the intended number of 6 people per song. Each team that has too many members left needs to vote out a certain amount of trainees, who then have to switch teams to fill the empty spots. The new teams are then shown practicing and preparing for their performances. In a special segment the contestants compete in various fun sport games. In the tenth episode all the performances are shown and the winning team is announced, thus winning the 150,000 point benefit. The episode ends with the announcement that only 20 people would be able to make it to the final round.

The third Survial Announcment begins with footage of the thirty trainees having fun together and playing games amidst the preparations for the Artist Battle. After that the announcement begins with 10th to 19th being revealed first, followed by the current Top 9. Lastly ??? manages to place 20th and therefore being the last trainee securing herself a spot in the finals. With the Top 20 confirmed, Seventeen's Seungkwan announces the next and final mission: The Debut Song Evaluation. He introduces “Melting” and “Want U” as the two final songs. He explains that they will be split into two teams of 10. While choosing which songs to perform the higher-ranked trainees can push out lower-ranked trainees from the song of position they chose for themselves. For this mission, the Storymakers get to decide the center for each of the songs. After the positions are confirmed the girls begin practicing the choreography and memorizing the lyrics in preparation for the final stage.
⊹ episode 12 ⊹ finale ⊹
The show starts off with the 20 finalists performing the show’s theme song. Le Sserafim's Chaewon then announces the opening of the final voting round in which all live votes are doubled. The finalists auditions and final interviews are shown. After performing “Our Melody” the group name is revealed to be Daughters of Elphyne, which will be abbreviated as DOE. It then cuts to the trainees being shown practicing for their respective songs and it is revealed which member got the final center part. Before the final announcement a heartwarming moment of the trainees sharing their dreams with each other at a campfire is broadcasted. There they also read the letters they wrote to themselves after their introduction stages. Voting soon comes to a close and the ranking announcement begins. It started from the contestant who ranked 8th. At last the 9th and final spot for DOE was announced.
